When I put the disc in and started the game, it prompted me whether I want to replace the digital version with the disc version or not. I chose to replace it with the disc version and as far as I can tell, it didn't need to reinstall anything from the disc, updates were kept, nothing changed.

Again I can't guarantee that others are having or had this issue or even will do after writing this, but I strongly suggest anyone who is planning to buy or is even in two minds about purchasing GTA 5 for the PS4, please save yourself and buy the disc copy. Avoid the digital copy for your own good.
